David Lasley is a painter interested in a dialogue between images of classical idealism and media portrayals of contemporary machismo. He received his MFA from the San Francisco Art Institute in 2014 and has been a resident at the Vermont Studio Center. Currently, he lives and works in Oakland, CA.

Lasley's figurative paintings and drawings, featuring subjects which range from athlete David Beckham, male bodybuilders to himself, feature distorted and exaggerated physiques, always skeptical of masculine artifice. These works were featured at City Limits in the 2014 exhibition, "Making Space."
